MBOMBELA – Lowvelders should cancel whatever else they have planned for this week and make their way to the Australian Circus Spectacular at Riverside Mall. Do not wait too long to decide, the last show will take place on September 11.
Every act – even the modern clowns – is a mind-blowing extravaganza and at times spectators are compelled to wonder whether the performances are humanly possible. Some stunts are magical and others extremely dangerous, keeping each awestruck onlooker on the edge of their seat throughout it all. All performers show extreme skill, strength, artistry and endurance and the entire performance is perfectly choreographed. It is clear that the circus aims to bring exceptional quality entertainment and the various performers have one objective: to be the best at what they do.
From start to finish, Americus, the hula-hoop performer, captivates the audience with such ease – her movements, agility, finesse and talent mesmerise the crowd. As she floats across the circus ring, hoops appear almost out of nowhere, only to be swung and flung around her dainty, poised frame.
Beauty, strength and trust are the secret winning combination behind the beautiful Spanish husband-and-wife duo, Edison and Gizelle. In the second half they dominate with their incomparable lyra-and-pole act. It must have taken years of training, rehearsals and performances, because they are seen as one of the most dynamic and captivating duos in the world.
In the final act the incredibly talented FMX Motocross riders dazzle spectators with their adrenalin-filled performance. The tension is palpable from the get-go.
The Aussie Circus brings extreme excitement and bravado with this crazy act – the heights and G-force produced by the jumps have members of the audience in awe.
The boys perform some of the most daring and courageous motocross jumps, right over the top of the Globe of Death. Not to mention the preceding act, when five riders circle a daring dancer inside the globe – all of this inside the huge tent. Watch this video to get the adrenaline pumping!
Other acts include Yuriy the trouble-making clown, an awesome quick-change act by Kiarnna and Ricardo, the human cannonball, Kaleah on the trapeze swings and many more.
And animal lovers will be pleased to know the circus does not include a single animal act. South Africa is the circus’sfirst stop on a worldwide tour and Lowvelders are among the lucky few to have the opportunity to watch these amazing performers.
