Premier shows his support with a visit to Sekhukhune United
Mathabatha said the district needs a strong soccer team in the Sekhukhune District Municipality.
The Limpopo premier, Stan Mathabatha, believes that local GladAfrica Championship side, Sekhukhune United, can achieve a promotion to the elite DStv Premiership. Mathabatha visited the team to offer words of encouragement in Polokwane of Friday.
He indicated that the Sekhukhune region is like a traditional capital city and legendary area of Limpopo.
Mathabatha said the district needs a strong soccer team in the Sekhukhune District Municipality.
The premier emphasised that when you call yourself Sekhukhune, it means you are a warrior and no one
can defeat you; once you embrace the name Sekhukhune, it means you are a team of winners.
“The glory that surrounds the Sekhukhune name will never fail as long as the they, the team, still compete in the GladAfrica Championship. Our aim is to see this team competing against the best in the country.”
Mathabatha wished the team well.
However, he reminded the players to adhere to tactical discipline throughout the season so that they can achieve promotion to the PSL at the end of season.
Sekhukhune United are currently in second place on the log. They have accumulated 31 points from 19 games.
