Donation brings smiles to underprivileged in Mashishing

The business enjoyed volunteering at Uzenzele Wena Orphanage

The charitable organisation of Ps Zodwa Hlatshwayo, Uzenzele Wena Orphanage, has been a well-known staple in this community.

In addition to providing a soup kitchen for about 100 people every day, Hlatshwayo ensures that the children have something to eat in the evenings.

For some kids, soup and bread are the only meal they have for the day. Katlego Lungu, the owner of Yendelela Pty Ltd, made a large donation of soup ingredients and they rolled up their sleeves to help out in the kitchen, every Saturday for six weeks.

On Thursday August 18, Lungu and her team donated additional non-perishable food items, toilet paper and canned food. “Yendelela Pty Ltd is a small local company and we took the initiative to give back to the community. We started contributing to the soup project on July 9 and continued for about six weeks. We also worked with a local bakery, Ocean Valley, from which we bought 150 loaves of bread for those Saturdays we worked in the kitchen. Vuyelwa Primary School made their pots available for us to make the soup. We must all start to make a small contribution to our own communities. We received so much joy to help Uzenzele Wena Orphanage and we encourage other businesses to donate when possible,” said Lungu.
