Mpumalanga Department of Education prepares for school admission processes

The spokesperson for education recently indicated what measures had been taken to ensure that as many learners as possible are admitted without a glitch.

The Mpumalanga Department of Education (DoE) said it has already set in motion processes to ensure the smooth reopening of schools for 2023. The schools are set to reopen on Wednesday January 11.

On Tuesday January 10, the DoE’s spokesperson, Jasper Zwane, said the admission of the majority of learners has progressed very well, but there are learners who have still to be admitted, mainly in the fast-growing towns within the province.

He said the department has directed that the admission of learners must be concluded within 10 days after the reopening of schools.

“Parents are requested to register their children in schools that are closer to their residence. This will ensure that they do not incur costs for transport and will enable their children to participate in Curriculum Enrichment

Programmes at school. It will also be easy for parents to attend to school activities and meetings.”
He said the department had delivered learning and teaching support material to all schools in November.
