Police believe they may have saved lives by arresting the men
The provincial police commissioner expressed satisfaction with the two arrests.

Acornhoek Crime Prevention (ACP) members were busy with their normal patrols along the R40 in Acornhoek on Friday, January 6, when they spotted a suspicious looking red Toyota Tazz with KwaZulu-Natal registration plates.
ACP members approached the vehicle and its two occupants and immediately searched it. They found three firearms, one with its serial numbers filed off, as well as 13 live rounds of ammunition.
The two suspects were arrested after they had failed to produce firearm licences or permits.
One suspect is a local resident and the other one is believed to be from Rustenburg. The two were expected to appear in the Acornhoek Magistrate’s Court yesterday, January 9, for possession of firearms and ammunition without valid firearm licences or permits.
In a statement to the press, the provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Manamela, voiced her satisfaction about the recovery of the firearms and the arrest of the suspects.
“We may have saved lives with these arrests,” Manamela said.
