Mpumalanga’s dams near full storage capacity

Heavy rains increased the province's storage capacity

On Monday, January 9, the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) released the latest dam levels report for Mpumalanga.

Ehlanzeni District’s dams are all full and overflowing, apart from Inyaka Dam, which is 86.8% full, and Ohrigstad Dam, which recorded levels at 43.2% full.

Mpumalanga’s dams now stand at 97.4% full storage capacity (FSC) with a total capacity of 2 538.6 million cubic metres. This is a marginal increase from last week’s 97% FSC. Levels for the province at the same time last year had stood at 91.5%.

Heavy rain across the country has seen South Africa’s total storage capacity increase from 94.1% last week to 94.7% this week.
