Laerskool Laeveld’s foundation phase learners can return to school
The temporary emergency staircase at Laerskool Laeveld has been deemed safe to use by the City of Mbombela's fire prevention officer. This means that the school can welcome back the pupils of 12 foundation phase classes that could not enjoy the start of term three with the rest of the learners.

Pupils of 12 Laerskool Laeveld foundation phase classes were turned away at the beginning of the third term on July 18 as the construction of their new classes is dragging on with no end in sight.
The contractors working on the construction project at the school closed off and partially demolished one of the emergency escape routes.
On July 17 Lowvelder reported that a subcontractor had jumped in to build a temporary staircase at Laerskool Laeveld in an attempt to help rectify the construction problems that have been hindering the schoolchildren’s return.
Since then the stairway has been completed and undergone a safety check by the fire prevention officer of the City of Mbombela, Johan Stassen.
Along with the news that the school’s temporary emergency staircase has passed the test, Laeveld was elated to share the news that the school’s grades one to three classes are safe to return to school as of Friday, July 21.
