Three people killed in collision on R36 between Bambi and Lydenburg

Two articulated trucks were involved in a collision on the R36, killing three people.

Three people lost their lives when two articulated trucks were involved in a side-swipe collision on the R36 between Bambi and Lydenburg on Monday October 9.

According to the spokesperson for the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Moeti Mmusi, the victims include one truck driver and two passengers.

“The driver of another truck sustained critical injuries and was subsequently airlifted to a nearby hospital. No bus was involved in this crash as had earlier been reported,” he said.

Mmusi added that the emergency personnel and law enforcement officers are still on the scene to redirect traffic and to commence with the recovery process.

The cause of the crash is not known at this point, but the investigation is already under way.
