Fraud case against Sekhukhune District Municipality employees postponed
The fraud cases were committed in July 2018.
The fraud cases against Sekhukhune District Municipality’s (SDM) former employees have been postponed to
February.
Andries Mokgotho (45), Bongani Masupye (45), Kedibone Magagane (45), Sivhadana Murovhi (39) and Charles
Malema (42) appeared briefly in the Polokwane Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Monday October 23.
The accused were charged with six counts of fraud.
Mokgotho, Magagane and Malema were employees of SDM, working as an expenditure clerk, expenditure manager and chief financial officer respectively. From July 5 to 7, 2018, they allegedly directed a payment of R5.4m to Murovhi and Masupye, who never rendered any services to the municipality.
“The monies were supposed to be paid to the three service providers who were rendering security services, collecting water reticulation and completing toilets,” said the Limpopo NPA’s spokesperson, Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi.
She confirmed that the matter was postponed to February 5 for disclosure of the docket content.
The former SDM employees were granted R5 000 bail each, while Masupye and Murovhi were granted bail of R8 000.
