Glencore Ferroalloys, Anglo American and Dwarsrivier Chrome Mines, in partnership with the Boleng Trust, celebrated the 2024 Grade 12s in a prestigious award ceremony on January 30.

The Ngwaabe Circuit’s 2024 Grade 12 Awards Ceremony was held at the Tubatse Chrome Club on January 30, celebrating the exceptional academic achievements of the Class of 2024 of schools in the area.

Hosted by the Sekhukhune East District – The District on the Rise, the event was attended by 150 enthusiastic guests who gathered to applaud the pupils. The ceremony was made possible through the generous sponsorship and collaboration of Glencore Ferroalloys, Anglo American and Dwarsrivier Chrome Mines, in partnership with the Boleng Trust.

Recognised categories at the awards function:
• Best-performing learner in 22 subjects
• Best-performing teacher in 22 subjects
• Best overall performing learner in the circuit for positions 1, 2 and 3
• Best-performing school in the circuit for positions 1, 2 and 3
• Most improved school in the circuit
• Best-performing high-enrolment secondary school

Glencore Ferroalloys sponsored the logistics for the event and provided 33 trophies, gift sets and varsity sets for the educators and learners valued at R198 000. “We are very proud of all the learners as they studied diligently and pushed through to achieve great results. Through this event, we are excited to celebrate the educators and learners and trust this will assist them to excel as they take their studies further,” said Glencore’s Forster Maloka.

Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine’s Remember Mmbengwa.

Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine’s Remember said that the Boleng Trust had sponsored 27 educational vouchers valued at R180 000 to support learners with further education opportunities.

“By providing trophies, varsity sets, laptops with bags, educational vouchers and other rewards, these mining companies continue to inspire and motivate learners and educators to continue striving for excellence,” said Sekhukhune East’s director, Dr JF Malatji.
