Graphic road-safety ad shocks South Africans
The video has been labelled a shock tactic, and although many say it is too graphic, some believe that it could be a much-needed wake-up call

The latest ad from the Western Cape Department of Transport and Public Works has caused a stir on social media. It was launched in March as part of its Safely Home initiative and shows a car crash involving four young people in Cape Town.
Here in the Lowveld accidents often make headlines and residents have seen their fair share of tragedies on the road.
Western Cape MEC Mr Donald Grant said seat-belt compliance will mean thousands of lives saved. “When a crash occurs, the occupants who are not restrained continue to move forward at the same speed at which the vehicle was travelling before the collision. They are catapulted into the structure of the vehicle, into other occupants or hurled to almost certain death.”
Do you think the video is too graphic, or could it help make drivers and passengers more safety-conscious?
