Lightly refreshed Honda Amaze priced

Small sedan benefits from subtle exterior and interior tweaks, but retains the same powertrain.

With just over four months having passed since its market debut in India, Honda South Africa has officially released pricing details of the facelift Amaze small sedan.

Dimensionally unchanged, the second generation Amaze, known as the Brio Amaze in first generation guise, receives external changes in the form of a new headlight clusters, a slimmer logo bar on the revised grille, blacked-out LED taillight clusters and a restyled rear bumper with a lower chrome strip.

Inside, the previously optional two-tone faux black-and-beige leather option makes way for a standard black cloth upholstery on all models. Remaining though are the gloss black accents in place of the silver details offered on the Indian equivalent.

On the specification front, the Amaze retains the same trim levels as before with the entry-level Trend, modelled on the Indian spec S, featuring as standard a four-speaker sound system with Bluetooth and USB, electric mirrors, a multi-function steering wheel, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear armrest and electric windows. Keyless entry is however omitted.

The mentioned Comfort, based on the Indian specification VX, builds on the Trend by swapping the conventional air-conditioning for automatic air-conditioning, in addition to dropping the audio display for a seven-inch touchscreen setup with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Also standard are 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, colour coded mirrors and door handles, LED fog lamps,  a reverse camera and gear shift paddles on models equipped with the optional CVT. Absent though is cruise control.

Up front, the normally aspirated 1.2-litre petrol engine continues unchanged with outputs of 66kW/110Nm. A five-speed-manual gearbox is standard on all models with the mentioned CVT being restricted to the Comfort.

Claimed top speed is 150 km/h with the manual taking 12.3 seconds to get from 0-100 km/h and the CVT 13.5 seconds. Fuel consumption is rated at 5.6 L/100 km for the former and 5.7 L/100 km for the latter.
