Based on a weekend social post, the Landtrek will soon get the same 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine as the Boxer van and its South American Fiat Titano sibling.

With comparatively little having emerged since its mid-life update at the end of 2024, a weekend social media post has seemingly confirmed the imminent arrival of a more powerful engine for the Peugeot Landtrek.
Welcome 2.2
Until now only powered by the 1.9-litre Multijet turbodiesel engine, the post by a Pretoria-based dealer group names the Landtrek as soon being the recipient of the 2.2-litre oil-burner.
An engine used in the Boxer van and in South America by the Landtrek’s sibling, the Fiat Titano and smaller Toro, the unit makes 147kW/450Nm and is paired to either a six-speed manual gearbox or a new eight-speed automatic gearbox.
Aside from the engine, the post on the dealership’s Facebook page only confirms the eight-speed ‘box and the availability of two-wheel drive in the Allure trim level.
One of three engine options the Landtrek can now be specified in, the others being the 1.9 and a 2.4-litre turbo-petrol, its Mexican sibling, the Ram 1200, has as its only option, the arrival of the 2.2 has not officially been confirmed by Peugeot parent company Stellantis or mentioned on its website.
Added revisions
At present, the Landtrek range spans five variants, four double cabs and one single cab, all powered by the 1.9-litre unit that develops 110kW/350Nm.
The apparent imminent inclusion of the 2.2, though, will also bring an uptake in towing capacity from the current 3 000 kg to the industry standard 3 500 kg.
In addition, Peugeot has also made subtle exterior changes and fitted a new seven-inch digital instrument cluster, plus its latest software and first-time wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto within the 10-inch infotainment system.
Price
For the moment, no planned launch or price details about the Landtrek 2.2 are known. However, expect a formal announcement to be made soon.
