WATCH: Warthog seeks shelter in Bela-Bela butchery

Staff were busy cashing up for the day when the warthog ran into the store.

It’s not everyday that a wild animal willingly enters a butchery in the middle of the afternoon, but that is precisely what happened at Camo Meat game butchery in Bela-Bela, Limpopo on Monday.

Camo Meat owner Stephen Nel told Die Pos that staff were busy cashing up for the day when the warthog ran into his store.

“The warthog went into the kitchen behind the building, but could not seem to find his way out.”

No one knows exactly where the warthog came from, but residents suspect he escaped from a nearby nature reserve, Forever Resorts.

Bela-Bela municipality’s fire brigade were called to catch the warthog. It was later successfully released back into the reserve.
