Child, 7, dies after drowning in Bloubosrand

Circumstances surrounding the drowning remains unclear.

A seven-year-old boy from Bloubosrand, northwest of Johannesburg, has died after drowning in a pool.

According to ER24 spokesperson Annine Siddall, ER24 paramedics performed advanced life support and then transported the child to a nearby hospital on Sunday, Randburg Sun reported.

“At the time of their arrival, ER24 paramedics found the child receiving cardiopulmonary resuscitation from a local emergency service provider at about 6.20pm,” said Siddall.

She said the child was later declared dead at the hospital.

“Unfortunately nothing could be done for the child and he was later declared dead at the hospital,” she said.
