Police rescue two badly injured kidnap victims from car boot

The two suspects were also found in possession of ammunition and a toy gun.

The Krugersdorp police on the West Rand rescued two victims from the boot of a car after they had been kidnapped, Krugersdorp News reports.

On Monday, 24 July, police received a tip-off about individuals pointing firearms at people and assaulting them.

They arrived on scene and found two people sitting in a vehicle. They searched the vehicle and found two firearms, one of which turned out to be a toy.

They also found two badly injured victims in the boot of the vehicle. Upon release, they told the police they had been kidnapped on Sunday and had been in the hands of the suspects ever since.

The police then arrested the two suspects and opened a case of kidnapping, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, and assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm.

The suspects, aged 29 and 31, were detained at Krugersdorp Police Station and will appear in court soon.

Brigadier Baloyi, station commander for the Krugersdorp police, applauded the officers involved. “We will continue to keep the community of Krugersdorp safe,” he said.
