ActionSA offers R50 000 reward to find Soweto boys’ killers

One body was found in Rockville, while the other was found in White City.

ActionSA says it is offering a R50 000 reward to anyone who can provide relevant information that will lead to the arrest of the culprits who allegedly killed two boys in Soweto.

On Monday, the party said it wrote to Gauteng provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant General Elias Mawela, regarding the abduction of Nqobile Zulu and Tshiamo Raban, aged 5 and 6.

Missing boys

Last week Thursday, one body was found in Rockville, while the other was found in White City.

At the time, Mawela said the children were playing outside, in the street near their homes, when they went missing.

“Later at about 6pm, one parent started looking for his child and could not find him. They called the other parent to look for the children. However, they could not find them.

“They started doing the search on their own and when they saw they could not find them, they went to the Moroka Police Station to report the children missing,” Mawela said.

ActionSA’s president, Herman Mashaba, said the brutal murders highlight how our communities are left defenceless against rising crime.

“As someone who has long held close relationships with the community of White City in Soweto, and is a close family friend of the victims, I visited the families on Sunday afternoon alongside Gauteng provincial chairperson, Funzi Ngobeni, and the former City of Johannesburg chief of police, David Tembe.”

Mashaba said both families welcomed that reward offered in order to find the perpetrators.

He also asked Tembe to be the liaison between the police and families during investigations.

No rest

“As a party committed to the rule of law, ActionSA looks forward to Commissioner Mawela accepting our offer to help arrest the culprits.

“We will not rest until children can safely play in the streets of our communities without fear for their safety, and that the rule of law is restored to all spheres of our society,” he concluded.

Mawela has urged anyone with information relating to the case to contact the police.
