Another child rape scandal rocks Maritzburg primary school

It is alleged the staff member raped the young girl and gave her R100 to keep quiet.

A primary school in Pietermaritzburg in KwaZulu-Natal has been rocked by another shocking sexual abuse incident.

The school on Friday called an emergency meeting after one of the non-teaching staff was allegedly caught on CCTV following a Grade 6 pupil into the toilet, Maritzburg Sun reported.

It is alleged the staff member raped the young girl and gave her R100 to keep quiet.

The school is investigating information suggesting this was not the first time the staff member had raped young girls.

Furious parents who attended the nearly two-hour meeting demanded answers to what was happening at the school.

Parents called on government to take urgent action.

It is believed the staff member implicated in the rape has been employed at the school for 20 years.

The school’s former guidance counsellor, Darren Goddard, is currently out on bail awaiting his high court trial on multiple charges of rape and sexual assault on young boys at the school.
