Congregants of ‘boozing’ Gabola Church denied entry to Mam’ Winnie’s home

Congregants of the controversial Gabola Church that made headlines for hosting its sermons in drinking dens while patrons down their beer or spirit of choice were captured on video marching in song to late anti-apartheid activist Winnie Madikizela-Mandela’s home to pay their last respects this afternoon.

In one video clip, the lot is seen marching, singing and brandishing the ministry’s banner decorated with an assortment of alcohol products. Watch the clip below:

However, Bishop Tsietsi Makiti’s sheep have reportedly been shepherded away from the gates of the Mother of the Nation’s home in Soweto, as they were denied entry.

The church came to prominence for hosting its sermons that at times reportedly drag late into Sunday evenings, inside taverns and shebeens.

Images of its leader, Bishop Makiti, holding bottles of alcohol made the rounds on social media.

The bishop was reported as saying that there is nothing wrong with alcohol or the consumption of it, but that it was individuals who made mistakes while inebriated that were to blame.
