Five shot dead in Isipingo shooting

Police indicated that three unknown gunmen opened fire on people in the informal settlement situated along Old Main Road.


Five people have been killed and four others are in a critical condition following a shooting at the Pilgrim Informal Settlement in KwaZulu-Natal.

Police and Netcare 911 paramedics and several other services arrived at the scene to find five dead on Thursday, Rising Sun Chatsworth reported.

Police indicated that three unknown gunmen opened fire on people in the informal settlement, which is situated along Old Main Road.

After the wounded were triaged, it was found that five people tragically died, while four others are in a critical condition.

Chairperson of Isipingo CPF Aidan David said the murders that took place were drug-related, and the CPF would be engaging with the community of settlement to bring about awareness regarding the dangers of drugs and how it can lead to fatalities.

Isipingo SAPS spokesperson Captain David Ragavan said that no arrests have been made, and police were still investigating the matter further.
