Mpumalanga woman, teen raped in separate incidents

The mother of the teen discovered her daughter was raped when she came across a video trending on social media showing her being raped by three men.

Two more rapes incidents have been reported in Mpumalanga, and this time a 13-year-old girl and a woman were raped.

On Saturday, at 7pm a woman was raped in MNS squatter camp after she left a tavern, Witbank News reported.

She was with a person when she left, and said she was going to go to sleep, and then she continued to drink with another person.

He was the one who was buying alcohol for the woman. She then left and went outside to the bathroom. A fight started involving the woman  and the suspect managed to pull her into his mother’s house where he raped her.

In a separate case on Tuesday, August 29, at about 20:15 a case docket of rape was opened at Phola SAPS whereby a 13-year-old child was allegedly raped by three men.

The 13-year-old’s mother said that she started noticing that there was something wrong with her child on Saturday, August 27, when her son came to her and informed her that his sister was crying, and when she asked her what was wrong, she said that she had a headache and fever.

The next day the mother discovered there was a video trending on social media showing her daughter being raped by three men, and she immediately went to school to enquire about the video.

When the daughter was questioned by the mother and principal, she admitted that she was raped by three men on August 9 at Tycoon.

She was on her way home from church when the men approached her and took her handbag and dragged her to one of the men’s rooms where he assaulted her and raped her at knife point.

Due to the video that was made, the police were able to arrest the suspects.

The men are aged between 19 and 30 years old. The men were detained at Phola Police Station, and appeared in Witbank Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, August 31, for their first appearance and were denied bail.

On Monday, September 4, the three rapists appeared in Witbank Magistrates’ Court once again, and they were denied bail.

The case has been postponed until September 11.
