Little detail is available or forthcoming, but it appeared as though the taxi collided with the vehicle in which Shongwe was travelling, a Mercedes Benz with a Gauteng number plate.

The taxi, with no apparent passengers, came to a standstill, facing in the direction of White River.

Shongwe’s vehicle was facing the opposite direction, on the left hand side of the road.

Both Shongwe and the taxi driver were taken to hospital following the crash.
