Popular Hot 91.9 radio host passes away

It is alleged he suffered a massive heart attack.


Gavin Singh, a popular radio host on Hot 91.9, passed away suddenly on July 13, 2017, after suffering from a heart attack in Johannesburg, Randburg Sun reports.

According to a statement by Hot 91.9 managing director Lloyd Madurai, Singh suffered a massive heart attack at about 4pm, and passed away shortly afterwards.

“I deliver this statement on behalf of Hot 91.9 with an incredible sense of sadness and disbelief. 

“Today, we mourn the tragic loss of a gentle soul, with a kind heart, who we were truly Blessed to have spent each day with.

“Gavin, your tragic loss has left us with a feeling of emptiness and hurt and whilst this time will not be easy, together as a Hot 91.9 family we will get through this together. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Gavin’s parents and the Singh family.”

Medical staff tried to revive Gavin, but were unsuccessful in their attempts. Gavin Singh passed away at 4.20pm.

Tributes are pouring in on the station’s Facebook page for the radio legend.

Samantha Joan Almeida wrote: “Absolutely shattered. RIP Gav, you will be sorely missed.”

Eleanor Ward wrote: “We will miss your gentle voice and spirit on the waves. Sending Gavin’s family, friends and his Hot 91.9fm family much love and strength in this most difficult time. May his spirit fly with the Angels.”
