Burn calories building your chest

Burn calories easily while building your chest muscles.

Build your chest muscles and burn some calories by doing this simple exercise. You will require a bench press and a set of dumbbells.

Begin by lying on a bench press (or exercise bench). Your knees should be bent and your feet should lie flat – either on the floor or on the bench. Hold a set of dumbbells at the height of your chest. Ensure that your hands are a little more than shoulder-width apart. Now, gradually push the dumbbells straight up until your arms are fully extended and your elbows are almost locked. Hold in this position for a second or two before lowering them back to the starting position.

Doing this exercise will also help you to develop a good posture as it strengthens your upper body muscles.

Experiencing discomfort?

Always stop if you experience any discomfort or pain and remember that the more fit you are, the more comfortable you will feel when exercising.

Get a physical trainer

If you do not know where to start or how to put a suitable workout routine together for yourself, seek the assistance of a physical trainer. There may be many available at your local gym.

Consult your doctor

Always remember to consult with your doctor before starting any new exercise regime or making intense changes to your current one – especially if you suffer from any medical conditions and for some reason are required not to place your body or yourself under any form of stress or strain.
