IN VIDEOS: Massive #DurbanStorm leaves a trail of destruction

By Citizen Reporter

The eThekwini Municipality on Tuesday urged residents to stay indoors to avoid dangers associated with heavy rains that have caused flooding, which forced as many as 300 schools to close.

“Due to the inclement weather conditions currently being experienced in Durban, all residents are urged to stay indoors until the storm passes,” eThekwini Municipality spokesperson Tozi Mthethwa said in a terse statement.

Mthethwa cautioned people against driving or walking anywhere for the duration of the storm. “The current wind has been measured at 70 kilometres per hour, and is extremely dangerous.”

The municipality said that all roads in the southern parts of Durban had been closed for safety reasons.
