PICS: North West hospital battles blaze as patients are evacuated

The North West has been hit by two devastating fires on Wednesday, first at a luxury hotel and casino, and later at a hospital. 

News broke on Wednesday morning that a fire was burning Mmabatho Palms Hotel and casino in Mahikeng, North West.

Although no injuries were reported, the damage appeared significant. 

Mere hours later, the North West Department of Health confirmed a fire had also broken out at Christiana Hospital, some three hours away from Mmabatho Springs. 

Health MEC for the province, Madoda Sambatha, said in a statement the entire hospital was affected by the blaze, and that all patients had to be evacuated. 

There were no reports of any injuries or deaths due to the fire at Christiana Hospital.
