According to Wandile Shabangu, SRC chairperson and SRC treasurer, the head of security gave them a letter stating that they must leave by 12pm.

“They say we must leave because of the unrest at the campus. They say if we don’t leave, the police will shoot us and remove us by force. We will not leave, this is our home,” said Shabangu.

“We feel the management is not taking us seriously, this is why we decided that we are closing the gate, and we are only allowing the management to enter the campus so that they can make the necessary payments,” he explained.
