Woman killed in PTA cash-in-transit heist

Two other vehicles were also damaged in the shooting.


A motorist was killed by a stray bullet during a cash-in-transit heist in the north of Pretoria on Saturday, Pretoria Rekord North reports.

Police spokesperson Captain Kay Makhubele said the woman was driving past the robbery when the bullet hit her.

Police could not divulge the identity of the woman at the time of going to press.

Makhubele said a shooting ensued between the robbers and Fidelity security.

“Two other vehicles were also damaged in the shooting,” he said.

He said it was not yet clear how many people were involved in the robbery, but added that it was alleged that there were more than 10 robbers.

The robbers fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money. Makhubele said that a case of robbery was opened.

Earlier, Pretoria North Rekord reported that the incident occurred around 08:30 on Saturday in Karen Park.

Fidelity Security group cash solutions executive Arthur Gibson confirmed that none of his staff sustained serious injuries.
