Congress of the People (Cope) leader Mosiuoa Lekota took part in a march against farm murders on Saturday. The march in Pretoria, which was organised by Afriforum, follows the Black Monday movement last month.
The objective of the march is to generate awareness about farm murders, a movement that Lekota says Cope supports.
Lekota also urged the government to do more to protect farmers.
“Protect our farmers, protect farmworkers and protect our rural communities. We want freedom in this country to reign supreme. Anyone who wants to change anything must come to elections.”
The Black Monday movement saw people all around South Africa protest the murders of farmers. It gained support from AfriForum, a civil rights group, agricultural unions, and the Cape Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and political parties, among others.
