WATCH: Mother’s middle-finger encounter with speeding Fields Hill truck driver
A mom has divided opinion on Facebook after uploading a video of her versus a big truck in KZN.
A video posted on Facebook by Kendall Whittaker has left people fuming.
She explained the truck driver had allegedly attempted to intimidate her by driving far too fast behind her despite her having a baby with her in the car.
As the car she was in passed him, his response to her was to pull out the middle finger.
She wrote: “Coming down fields hill only to have this guy screaming up our butt WITH MY BABY IN THE CAR!! This after all the horrors on fields hill AND it being an 80 zone.”
One Facebook user criticised Whittaker for using her cellphone while driving, but the footage clearly shows that she is seated on the passenger side and someone else, a man, is driving. The two even discuss what is happening.
She said that she estimated the driver “must have been going 100km/h or 120km/h”.
However, she did catch flak for partaking in this at all. One user told her: “Driver of the truck should be prosecuted as well as the people in the car sped up and exceeded the speed limit, and thus broke the law, WITH A BABY IN THE CAR!! Bloody stupid and irresponsible!”

Whittaker was referencing a horror crash in the same area in 2013 when an articulated truck drove through a red light at high speed, killing 22 people (later becoming 24) and injuring at least 80 in Pinetown.
The driver, a 23-year-old citizen from Swaziland was taken to court under multiple charges including homicide and reckless driving. He pleaded guilty to all charges and was sentenced to eight years. He maintained that the brakes had failed as it descended the notorious hill approaching the intersection.
