The South African Weather Service (Saws) has released its latest weather forecast for Saturday, 10 May 2025.
Yellow level 4 and 2 warnings were issued for sea and wind dangers, with fire threats in the Western and Eastern Cape and cold, wet, and windy conditions also forecast in parts of the country. Here’s what you need to know.
The weather service has issued yellow level 4 warnings for damaging waves leading to difficulty in navigation at sea for small vessels and personal watercraft between Table Bay and Plettenberg Bay.

Saws has also issued a yellow level 2 warning for damaging winds leading to difficulty in navigation at sea and possible damage to informal settlements expected along the coast between Plettenberg Bay and East London.
Damaging waves resulting in difficulty in navigation and small vessels taking on water and capsizing within a locality are also expected along the coast between Plettenberg Bay and Port Elizabeth from the evening, spreading to Port Edward. A yellow level 2 warning was issued.
The last impact-based warning is a yellow level 2 warning for damaging winds leading to localised problems for high-sided vehicles on prone routes expected over the southern part of the Northern Cape, the central and the eastern part of the Western Cape, as well as the central and the northern part of the Eastern Cape.
Extreme high fire danger conditions are expected over Beaufort West and Hessequa LMs in the Western Cape, as well as the northwestern part of the Eastern Cape.
The weather service has warned that very cold, wet and windy conditions are expected over the Karoo Hoogland local municipality in the Northern Cape and the Witzenberg local municipality in the Western Cape.
Strong to gale-force north-westerly winds are expected in places over Chris Hani and Joe Gqabi district municipalities in the Eastern Cape, while westerly to south-westerly winds accompanied with very rough seas are expected in places along the coast between Plettenberg Bay and Peddie until Sunday.

Gauteng:
Residents of Gauteng can expect fine and cool weather but warm in the north.
The region’s expected UVB sunburn index is “very high”.
Residents should take the necessary precautions against prolonged sun exposure.
Mpumalanga:
Mpumalanga residents can expect fine and cool to warm to hot conditions in places in the Lowveld.
Limpopo:
The day will be fine and cool to warm.
North West:
Fine and cool to warm weather awaits North West residents.
Free State:
Residents of the Free State will experience fine and cool to warm conditions.
Northern Cape:
The day will be cloudy in the west; otherwise, it will be fine, windy and cool to warm, with isolated showers and thundershowers over the southern parts and along the escarpment from later in the morning. It will be cold to very cold over the extreme southern parts.
Western Cape:
Western Cape residents can expect cloudy, windy and cold weather with isolated to scattered showers and rain, except in the northeast, where it will be partly cloudy and cool. Light rain is expected along the south coast from late afternoon.
Eastern Cape (western half):
It will be partly cloudy and cool in places; otherwise, it will be fine, windy and warm with isolated showers and rain along the coast and adjacent interior west of Gqeberha from the evening.
Eastern Cape (eastern half):
The day will start with morning fog in places along the coast south of Kei Mouth; otherwise, it will be fine, windy and warm, but cool north of the escarpment. It will become partly cloudy from the afternoon.
KwaZulu-Natal:
Residents of KwaZulu-Natal can look forward to fine and warm conditions, but cool in the southwest.
The region’s expected UVB sunburn index is “extreme”.
Residents should take the necessary precautions against prolonged sun exposure.
