Nandipha Magudumana, the disgraced celebrity doctor and customary wife of convicted murderer and rapist Thabo Bester is not pregnant with his child.
Rumours have been circulating that Magudumana may be carrying the so-called Facebook rapist’s child after she was seen wearing baggy clothes and had a puffy face when she arrived back in South Africa and during her court appearances.
However, this may not be the case.
According to a Tanzanian source, Magudumana was questioned by authorities after she and Bester was arrested.
During the interrogation by Tanzanian authorities Magudumana was apparently asked if she was pregnant.
“She told the authorities during questioning that she was not pregnant,” the source said.
Bester and Magudumana were arrested in Arusha Tanzania, just 10km from the Kenyan border with several passports – with multiple identities – in their possession after being nine months on the run.
The duo arrived back in South Africa on Thursday 13 April after a delegation consisting of the Department of Justice and police officials departed for the East African country to bring the fugitives back to face trial for the crimes they committed.
The suspended medical doctor also initially told Tanzanian authorities that she was being held against her will by Bester.
“She was being held against her will by him. That was her response in her initial arrest questions, that’s what she said,” the source said.
The source however said it is unclear if Magudumana changed her statement after that.

After the couple’s extradition to South Africa, Police Minister Bheki Cele during a media briefing said Magudumana was “very cooperative”, but not Bester.
“We know that the good doctor (Magudumana) cooperated on the other side. We know that the good doctor’s customary husband (Bester) did not cooperate,” said Cele.
Magudumana and four other suspects linked to Bester’s audacious prison break have since been arrested and appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on a number of charges.
One of the suspects is Zolile Sekeleni, who is Magudumana’s father and former G4S employee.
Bester also appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court last week, where his case was postponed to 16 May, for further investigations.
Magudumana’s father was granted R10 000 bail and is due back in court on 17 May, while Nandipha and the other accused will all remain behind bars until their next court appearance on the 3 and 4th of May.
Bester escaped from the Mangaung Correctional Centre (MCC) in Bloemfontein in May 2022 after it was initially believed he had committed suicide by setting himself alight in his cell.
However, the DCS which originally declared him dead, confirmed that the charred body found in his cell was not that of Bester who was convicted in 2012.
