Ferdies has Heart for Mosaic, Ikageng

Ferdies plans on having many more outreaches to Mosaic.

Ferdinand Postma High School hosted a first-time outreach to Mosaic Community Centre in Ikageng on 7 March, donating second-hand clothing and stationery to the children.
Mosaic is a community centre that aims to better lives. Its vision is to see orphans and vulnerable children across Africa in a loving, caring family equipped to realise their God-given potential.
The initiative is South African-based, with a mission to establish a nurturing environment for orphans, vulnerable children and their caregivers throughout Africa. It accomplishes its mission by empowering foster families and broader communities through interventions like educational programmes and comprehensive family support, using a three-pillar model:
1. Family Development
2. Partner support
3. Industry solutions.
Mrs Jolanda Rosin, part of the Ferdies Interact team and organiser of the Mosaic outreach, elaborated on the process. “Mosaic uplifts families in the community by offering the parents work in a factory where they learn how to make leather products.

They have afternoon care for the orphans and vulnerable children, helping them with homework and looking after them. On top of that, they provide housing for the parents and children.” Mrs Rosin says the outreach aimed to identify needs the children and the centre might have that Ferdies Interact could help fill. “We noted a need for more clothes,” she said. They also noticed the centre had a library and decided to bring books to add to it.
“Ferdies Interact enjoyed playing with the children at Mosaic and would like to do so again. It is good for our learners and the children.”
Aninka Muller is a Gr. 12 learner at Ferdies and head of Heart, the tree at Ferdies from which Interact sprouts. “We, as Interact at Ferdies, are immensely grateful for everything Mosaic does for its community, and we are very excited to work with them in the future!” Aninka states.

During the outreach, Mrs Rosin ministered to the children of Mosaic, explaining the real meaning of Easter. “it is not about the egg,” she laughed, explaining that Easter is about Jesus. “Jesus paid the ultimate price when He died for your life to pay for your sins so you may be free. Jesus has plans for your life from before you were born. Choose to allow Jesus into your heart and life.” The children at Mosaic displayed amazing spirit and joy for life. The outreach demonstrated immense love for the children and Jesus throughout. Ferdies’ learners played games with the children and worshipped alongside them. It was a truly memorable afternoon.
