Danielle Strydom of Potchefstroom Gimnasium once again made her town and country extremely proud with a brilliant 32nd place at the UCI XCO Mountain Bike World Championships in the Czech Republic last month.

This was Strydom’ first race of this magnitude and she showed guts and determination under the circumstances of this unknown environment. Strydom completed the cross-country event in a time of 1:14:31, about 12 minutes off the pace of eventual winner, Ida Jansson of Sweden.  Strydom was full of praise for her supporters after the race.

“Thank you to everyone who supported me, especially my parents, friends and family, boyfriend, fellow riders, SA team and my sponsors,” she posted on Facebook.
