The North West Dragons have partnered with Seeff and will look to start their second Africa T20 Cup campaign with a winning mentality. Key to this will be the strength in the depth of their squad, which looks more confident than ever this year. Nicky van der Bergh will captain the team after a successful season with the Bizhub Highveld Lions, where he was awarded the domestic newcomer of the year award.

Other heavyweights in the Dragons team include the SA Emerging team captain, Marques Ackerman, who is in sublime form with the bat, as well as Bjorn Fortuin, new acquisition from KZN, Aya Myoli, and the ever-dangerous Rassie van der Dussen. Fortuin recently picked up outstanding match figures of 13/201 against the Sri Lanka Emerging team at Senwes Park. SA Universities team Captain, Wihan Lubbe, is another Lions contracted player who enters the tournament in good form, having recently scored 277 runs at an average of 55.40 including a run-a-ball 64 in the final of CSA’s Emerging Triangular Series.

The team suffered a late injury blow before departing when leg-spinner, Katleho Leokaoke, broke his finger in a warm-up match. He has been replaced by local talent, Lesego Senokwane. The Dragons will compete in pool A with KZN Inland, Namibia and Western Province and will play all their group matches at the Pietermaritzburg Oval in Pietermaritzburg from Friday 2 – Sunday 4 September.

The Seeff Dragons squad for the Africa T20 Cup is made up of:
Nicky van den Bergh (captain), Marques Ackerman, Brady Barends, Johannes Diseko, Bjorn Fortuin, Lesego Senokwane, Wihan Lubbe, Janneman Malan, André Malan, Aya Myoli, Kagiso Rapulana, Julian Soutter, Rassie van der Dussen. Coach: Monty Jacobs, Jimmy Kgamadi (assistant coach), Jolene Campher (trainer)
