If you read the facts and figures of the 2018 Varsity Cricket tournament in Potchefstroom last week, you would certainly have tipped the NWU to run away with the title.
Stats have an odd way of being a bit of a misrepresentation regarding the final outcome of a tournament, as Tuks did not feature as prominently as NWU in rankings. Still, the stats did give a clear indication of the individual performances that caught the eye during the tournament.

Here are a few interesting stats:
Top 5 batsmen:
1. Janneman Malan (NWU) – 304 runs at an average of 43.4 and strike rate of 119. Malan also hit three 50s with a high score of 86.
2. Niel Brand (Tuks) – 300 runs at an average of 42.9 and strike rate of 109. Brand also hit three 50s with a high score of 59*.
3. Ruben Hermann (Tuks) – 251 runs at an average of 35.9 and strike rate of 147. Hermann scored one 50 with a high score of 64.
