The North West Dragons are steadily reaching the summit of their goal in lifting the CSA Momentum Provincial One Day Trophy after a convincing 6-wicket win against Northerns in Pretoria on Sunday, 18 February.
Janneman Malan was once again one of the stars with a solid unbeaten 66* (103) that anchored the innings for the visitors as they chased down a small total of 180, after their bowlers put on a superb display against Northerns.
The pick of the Dragons bowlers were Aya Myoli (3/15) Brady Barends (2/41) and Johannes Diseko (2/35) who kept the Northerns batsmen guessing. Myoli also tookthe crucial wicket of Thomas Kaber for a golden duck. Gregory Mahlokwana was the pick of the Northerns batsman with 30 (43) as they scrapped to 180 all out.
The Dragons started like a house on fire with Malan and Shane Dadswell putting up 80 in the first 12 overs, before Dadswell lost his wicket on 35 bowled by Kaber. Northerns then took two further quick wickets to leave NW on 93/3, but Wihan Lubbe (51 off 60) joined Malan and together they hit a match winning 82 run partnership.
