Two junior sailors of the Boskop Yacht Club received awards at the South African Sailing Northern Re- gion gala evening held on 8 June at the Victoria Lake Yacht Club. Skipper Gerhard Van Niekerk and his crew Dewan van Niekerk were named junior men multi-hull sailors of the year and received South African Sailing Northern Region youth colours.

The pair made their mark in the 2017/18 season with podium positions in both youth and senior multi-hull events. In the Hobie 16 class, they won the multi-hull class at the South African Sailing youth nationals and the 2017 Hobie Grand Prix series.

In the Dart 18 class, the pair was the runners-up in the senior Dart 18 national championships held in Durban. Gerhard achieved a fourth place during the single-handed Dart 18 championships.
The opening cruise for Boskop Yacht Club’s 2018 season is on 25 August. The club will also be hosting the Dart nationals on 27/28 October 2018.
