Youngsters excel on the golf course for North West

The North West Primary Schools’ Golf boys’ team led all the strong provinces from day one of the SA inter-provincials. Unfortunately, with 15 minutes to go, Gauteng North overtook them by a narrow margin, forcing them to finish in second place. Central Gauteng was third and Ekurhuleni, fourth.
The Pecanwood golfer, Shivania Kalimuthu, was the overall girls’ winner after a fine performance.
The team consisted of Rorisang Nkosi (Pecanwood College); Janko van der Merwe (GHS); Jordan Goosen (Elandskraal); Leonard Bevan (Burhmannsdrif); Rialdo de Bruyn, Tiaan Wolfaardt (Dagbreek); Luan Vermeulen, Heinrich Janse van Vuuren (Saamtrek); Dandré de Villiers, Pedrie Snyman, Wian van Rensburg (Sannieshof) and Janré Brink (Vastrap).
The North West u.19 team engaged in battle in the A-section of the S.A u.19 IPT in Benoni from 17 to 21 December. The team comprised:
Christiaan Burke, Charles Pieterse (both Potchefstroom); Nash de Klerk, Oliver Goldhill, Rorisang Nkosi (all Pecanwood); André van Dyk, Jaco Anderson (both Klerksdorp) and Rigardt Albertse (Rustenburg). Leon Bevan managed the team.
January starts with a bang with the following events:
12th: Far West Open (Leopard Park GC)
20th: Lichtenburg Open (Lichtenburg GC)
27th: MooiNooi Open (MooiNooi GC)
27th: Pecanwood Junior Open (Pecanwood GC)
28th: N/West High school League and Trials (Pecanwood GC).
Patrick Maichotlo (Klerksdorp) and Juan Combrink (Potchefstroom) won the recent Leopard Park Open with Christo Peens (Potchefstroom) and Chabala Mabo (Leopard Park GC) runners-up.
