North West Cricket’s burgeoning youngsters completed one of their most successful u.19 Khaya Majola Cricket Weeks in recent memory. They won four of their six matches in the tournament.
A solid bowling performance, especially in the spin department, and mature batting saw the young Dragons claim victory against Namibia, Boland, Border and KwaZulu-Natal Inland. NW lost against the unofficial champions, Eastern Province and KwaZulu-Natal Coastal.

One of North West’s shining lights for the week was their SA sensation, Odirile Modimokoane, who per- formed brilliantly with the ball in hand to claim a place in the SA Schools XI. Modimokoane took 14 wickets and was the joint wicket taker of the week.
Other stars included local Potch cricketers, Van Zyl Smit (Volkies) who was the leading run-scorer for NW with 221 runs and hit the most boundaries (32) of any player in the tournament.
Christopher de Freitas (Volkies), Phemelo Sepati and Karabelo Matlawe (both from THS Potchefstroom) and Estiaan Schonfeldt (Hoërskool Rustenburg) were also star performers for NW.
