
Six of the North West University (NWU) hockey ladies will represent their country at the FIH Junior Women’s Hockey World Cup from 5-16 December this year.
Mishka Ellis, Chante Ferreira, Jacolene McLaren, Christa Ramasimong, Charmorne Theron and Zimkhitha Westron has all been chosen to represent their country at this prestigious event.
The South African Hockey Association (SAHA) has picked a group of 18 players that will face their first test ahead of the World Cup during the senior IPT in October that will be played in the Western Cape.
The added bonus for these six NWU players will be that they will play on home turf for their country against the top nations in the world during the Junior World Cup.
For this SAHA – South African Hockey Association U21 women’s team, their first big test will be the senior IPT in October being played at Western Cape.

NWU goalkeeper, Mishka Ellis mentioned that she was ecstatic at making the squad as it is something she has worked towards for a long time.
“It is a huge honour. It has been the next step in my career and the goal I’ve been working towards since Youth Olympics came to an end. The u21 test series against the Netherlands was even more of a motivation to push for this dream. Now that I am here, I am honestly just grateful and extremely excited to represent South Africa at the Junior World Cup,” stated Ellis.
