The final was a one-sided affair as Potch Dorp put the foot down with a fantastic batting and bowling display.

Potchefstroom Dorp Cricket Club is the 2021 T20 Community Club champion after a convincing 130-run win against Travelling Reefs in the final at the Witrand Oval on Saturday, 27 November.

Although the rain loomed large, the teams managed to get in some cricket in the gloomy conditions. Before Dorp could reach the final, they had to beat The Geek Academy (Rustenburg) by eight runs in the semi-final. It proved to be trickier than expected as The Geek Academy almost produced an upset of note in a match reduced to eight overs.

Dorp batted first and made 79/1 in their 8 overs thanks to a superb knock from the left-hander, Junior Mathe, (44 from 26 balls). Herman Prinsloo also made a handy 26 (24).

In reply, Sammy Letsoalo smashed 35 off 14 balls to give the visitors hope, but in the end, the Potch bowlers kept their nerve to reach the final. The final was a one-sided affair as Potch Dorp put the foot down with a fantastic batting and bowling display.

Dorp posted a commanding 224/3 in 20 overs due to half-centuries from Christopher de Freitas (64 off 34 balls), and Van Zyl Smit (50 off 28 balls). Travelling Reefs were bowled out for 94 in 17.4 overs with Corné Prinsloo taking amazing figures of 5/13. Potch Dorp will now take on the winners of Central Gauteng Lions (CGL) in January 2022 for a spot in the CSA Multiply T20 Community Cup.
