Dragons batsmen collapse as Lions bowlers take control

Former Dragons all-rounder, Bjorn Fortuin(4/38) tore the heart out of the Dragons top and middle order with superb spin bowling for the Lions.

The North West Dragons are in desperate trouble after a batting collapse saw them move from 77/1 to 143/9 in a horrible final session for the hosts, where they lost 8 wickets.

The Dragons are still 219 runs behind and in danger of following on after the Lions had earlier posted 362 all out thanks to a superb unbeaten 115 (190) from Wiaan Mulder.

Senuran Muthusamy (3/86) was the pick of the Dragons bowler’s in a good all-round effort from the men from Potchefstroom.

The highlights for the Dragons stopped when former Dragons all-rounder, Bjorn Fortuin(4/38) tore the heart out of the Dragons top and middle order with superb spin bowling.

It was only Lesego Senokwane with a well crafted 56 (119) and Shaylen Pillay 34 (68) that showed any resistance with the bat.

Duanne Olivier (2/41) took Senokwane’s wicket with a superb piece of outswing bowling. It was all downhill from there as the Lions took control in a dominating session.

Nicky van den Bergh (14) and Kerwin Mungroo (1) will look to add as many runs as possible for the last wicket.
