Signal FC beat NWU Tawana in thrilling ABC Motsepe League encounter

The Ikageng-based, Signal FC, are the new boys in the league, and they showed their mettle in this local derby against NWU Tawana, scoring twice in the second half in a come from behind victory. 

NW Signal FC stunned NWU Tawana FC yesterday (Friday, 18 November) in the opening match of the 2022/23 ABC Motsepe stream A section, with a 2-1 victory at Olën Park.

Success Pitso and Nhlanhla Faku scored for Signal FC to claim 3 points. NWU Tawana will feel aggreived that they could not seal the win after taking the lead early on in the second half through Kwanda Ngidi.
Only minutes later, NWU Tawana’s defence switch off as they gave Signal FC a way back in the game. Success Pitso, who had a terrific game, burst through the middle and calmly slotted the ball into the goal.
NWU Tawana continued to press for the winning goal, but in a cruel twist of fate went down to 10 men and then had to see all their pressure and ball possession come to nothing in the final 10 minutes of the match.
Signal FC made the most of another defensive mishap and scored the winner through Faku to huge delight of the travelling supporters.
Signal FC were composed under pressure and kept the NWU attackers at bay for most of the match. They will take great confidence heading into the rest of the season. NWU will need to regroup after a difficult defeat, knowing they let 3 points slip.
