Meso’s 70-run partnership with Madison Landsman (37 off 38) propelled SA to victory against a determined Bangladesh side

South Africa kept the momentum going with a crucial 5-wicket victory against Bangladesh in a Super Six stage match of the ICC Women’s u.19 T20 Cricket World Cup at the JB Marks Oval on Saturday, 21 January.

South African wicket-keeper, Karabo Meso 32* (30) finished the match with an over to spare smashing the winning boundary in front of a jubilant local crowd.

Meso’s 70-run partnership with Madison Landsman (37 off 38) propelled SA to victory against a determined Bangladesh side, who at one stage had SA at 33/4 in their chase of 106 for victory.

Meso and Landsman though kept their heads and were brilliant in the chase.

Bangladesh’s spinner, Rebeya Khan (3/18) was the pick of the bowlers.

Earlier, SA’s spinners also restricted the Bangladeshis to 106/6 with Kayla Reyneke taking 4/19. Ayanda Hlubi was also a menacing threat with her pace and was unlucky not to pick up a wicket.

SA next face Sri Lanka on Tuesday, 24 January in their next encounter.
