After a successful season of hosting international tournaments and developing cricket in the province, North West Cricket were duly awarded as the Provincial Federation of the Year at the North West Sports Awards that was held on Saturday, 25 February at Sun City.
North West Dragons acting CEO, Ismail Minty, was delighted at receiving the award and states that it is an honour to be rewarded with a top prize.
“It is a fantastic achievement and something that we at North West Cricket are very proud of. We have successfully hosted the 2023 u.19 Women’s World Cup which has been one of the highlights. I also want to thank everyone at North West Cricket for their hard work and dedication as well as the role that all our stakeholders played,” added Minty.

North West Dragons’ star bowler, Nthabiseng Nini, was also awarded for a superb season as she walked away with the Young Athlete of the Year award.

“I feel blessed, overwhelmed and emotional. I never thought that I would be awarded first position for Young Athlete of the Year,” added Nini.
She mentions that she felt she performed well this past season as she worked hard to get into the Proteas u.19 squad for the T20 World Cup.
“I’ve experienced a lot playing in the conditions that we have been exposed to and have learned to stay disciplined and patient.
“I will work much more harder and never fear the fact of failure and hopefully get called in the SA Emerging Squad,” added Nini on her goals for 2023.
