Flames go down in Telkom Netball League opener

The Flames, who are captained by Tlotlang Mokomela this year, just could not get going against the Stings, and will need to put in more hard work in the build-up to a tough clash against the Golden Fireballs tonight

The North West Flames did not make the best start to the 2023 Telkom Netball League as they suffered a 51-33 loss against the Southern Stings at their opening match on Thursday, 27 April.

The Flames, who are captained by Tlotlang Mokomela this year, just could not get going against the Stings, and will need to put in more hard work in the build-up to a tough clash against the Golden Fireballs tonight (Friday, 28 April) at 18:00 in Polokwane.

The Fireballs beat the Jaguars in the Gauteng derby last night by a score of 45-40 and will be difficult to beat.

The Flames have a young and talented squad at their disposal, and could spring numerous surprises if things fall into place.

Didi Keebine will provide the experience in the middle of the court, whilst bright talents like Sunel Smit, Caitlin du Plessis and Favour Umeh adds to the NWU flavour in the squad.
