Meet the ECD teacher shaping young minds at PEPPS

PEPPS ECD teacher Kholofelo Mphahlele shares her passion for nurturing young learners through play, language development and creative storytelling.

POLOKWANE – For more than five years, PEPPS Early Childhood Development teacher Kholofelo Mphahlele has lived out her passion for children’s education — a calling she says continues to inspire her daily.

Mphahlele told Review that watching young learners grow, explore and discover new things is the greatest fulfilment of her career. Her love for teaching, combined with the school’s “learning through play” curriculum, creates an environment where curiosity thrives.

“The learners get to experiment with different things, both inside and outside the classroom. It’s a hands-on learning experience every single day,” she said.

Among all her responsibilities, Mphahlele especially enjoys language activities because they are fun, engaging and build confidence in young learners.

“I love teaching new words and their meanings. Hearing the children use those words in their daily conversations is one of my proudest moments,” she added.

Story time is another highlight of her day.

“Children are incredible storytellers if you allow them to be. Sometimes we imagine our own endings, and their creativity always amazes me.”

Outside the classroom, books remain a big part of her life. Mphahlele says reading has taken her to places she has never physically travelled, and each story deepens her love for learning.

“Books have carried me across countries my feet have never touched and I absolutely love that,” she concluded.
