[LETTER] A thousand thank you’s is not enough

Christine Grobler and her family were very impressed by the exceptionally good service they received from Prince Mshiyeni Hospital.

EDITOR – We wish to give our sincere thanks and appreciation to Prince Mshiyeni Hospital staff in the ICU ward.

My son, Johan Coenraad de Lange, was admitted to the hospital on Saturday, October 30, until his passing on Wednesday, November 17. All the security staff, nursing staff and various doctors spoke to to me on a daily basis and made an effort to explain the procedures and processes which they were performing on him.

My son was in a coma the entire time and on various life saving machinery.

The ICU unit at Prince Mshiyeni Hospital is honestly brilliant and clean with highly qualified staff that are compassionate. The ward was well equipped and had updated technology.

My daughter, Mariette de Lange had to rush from Nelspruit, a seven hour drive from Durban, to see her brother who was not responding to any treatment. They allowed her special permission after hours to see him and advised her to talk to him as he might start to respond.

After requesting my permission, the nursing staff and two doctors explained their findings and the procedures they were following to her. My daughter was highly impressed with the ward, nursing staff and doctors, as she did a lot of research on the hospital and was greatly concerned about their poor publicity.

She felt very strong that we write a letter to the public to be published, informing everyone of the brilliant service delivery we’ve received from the ICU staff.

Well done and a huge appreciation to all the nursing staff and doctors at the ICU ward. All of you are truly God sent to us.

Thank you is such a small word, but your actions will remain with us for eternity.
CHRISTINE GROBLER
