The vibrant event served as a fundraiser for non-profit organisation, KZN Figure Skating, and a heartfelt celebration of the 10 athletes who represented KZN at the Gauteng Inter-Provincial Figure Skating Championships. The athletes gave visitors, friends and family members a chance to witness their awe-inspiring performances on home ice.

Jo Cossavella, chairperson of KZN Figure Skating, said the event brought the athletes’ success stories home, creating an uplifting atmosphere where local audiences could experience their craft.

Among the highlights of the recent championships, Zach Morgan secured first place in the Gold Men Singles over-12, while Cassidy Barker earned an impressive second place in the highly competitive Gold Women Singles over-12 division. Ester Horne added to the medal tally with a commendable third-place finish. Strong performances were also delivered by Izabella Reyneke, Mia Stannard, Tanique Jansen, and Amarah Peer in the same category, showcasing the depth of talent within the province.

In the Gauteng Stars of Tomorrow sections, Lethokuhle Gwala, Alex Bothma, and Mzande Mdluli demonstrated promise and determination against tough competition.

“KwaZulu-Natal figure skating is finding its feet again, rebuilding with purpose, and stepping confidently into a new chapter. The ice is no longer a distant stage, but once again a place where KZN belongs,” said Cossavella.

She encouraged the community to experience ice skating at Galleria Ice Rink.
